Samsung starts mass producing GDDR6 chips for advanced and next-gen graphics card

Samsung has started mass production of 16 GB GDDR6 memory chips. The Chips are capable of handling next-generation graphics processing. It is made keeping in mind the advanced graphics processing for gaming, machine learning and AI, use in the automotive world, servers and networking.

“Beginning with this early production of the industry’s first 16Gb GDDR6, we will offer a comprehensive graphics DRAM line-up, with the highest performance and densities, in a very timely manner,” said Jinman Han, senior vice president, Memory Product Planning & Application Engineering at Samsung Electronics.

The chip is built on Samsung’s 10nm class* process.Which gives double the advantage over the previous 8Gb GDDR5 memory system.

(*10nm-class denotes a process technology node somewhere between 10 and 19 nanometers.)

The new chip performs at a 18Gbps(gigabits per second) pin speed with 72 GBps( GigaBytes per second), which is more than double the speed of the predecessor 8Gbps pin speed 8GB GDDR5.

The new Chips work on new low power circuit design, consuming 1.35V which is approximately 35% lower than 1.55V consuming GDR chips. The chips also have 30% more gain in manufacturing productivity due to the 10nm-class process.

Due to the in improvements in memory density and power efficiency. They will be playing an important role in the next generation graphics card.

This efficiency will be widely and more effectively used in the rapidly growing fields such as virtual reality (VR), Augmented reality(AR), Artificial intelligence, Machine learning and 8K Ultra HD video processing.

  1. First of all I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your head before writing. I’ve had trouble clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are generally wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Thanks!|

    • Hello,

Actually we don’t clear our mind we have a 100 things going on in our mind 😂😂😂. The fact that we could write this topic is that we have a paper with almost all the important points in it.

This includes all the points that would go into the post. And then we keep that points in the centre an write around it.

As you told you waste some of your precious time in thinking, we suggest you to read different very famous blogs and see how they start their post, and also read as much as you can…that helps a lot 😉.

And try to understand your audience before you blog that’s the most important part to consider.
