WhatsApp Will Stop Working On Some Devices From Today

The Facebook-owned company, WhatsApp had earlier announced that it will be closing its support for some older devices with Whatsapp Services. From today Devices running on Nokia S40 will not be able to use WhatsApp.

Nokia S40 Operating system that was on Nokia phones mainly on the Asha family before the Microsoft acquired Nokia. The devices that will not be able to use WhatsApp from today include Nokia Asha 201, Nokia Asha 205, Nokia Asha 210, Nokia Asha 230, Nokia Asha 500, Nokia Asha 501, Nokia Asha 502, Nokia Asha 503, Nokia 206, Nokia 208, Nokia 301 and Nokia 515.

WhatsApp in its support page has said – “We’ll no longer actively develop for these operating systems, some features might stop functioning at any time. If you currently use an older operating system, we recommend upgrading to a newer version.”

WhatsApp was earlier expected to end support for Nokia S40 devices in June this year, however, the company extended the deadline to 31 December. WhatsApp has not revealed how many users will be affected by this, but the number would be limited as these devices are very old.

Before this WhatsApp had announced and has stopped supporting WhatsApp services on Blackberry with BlackBerry 10, BlackBerry OS, Nokia Symbian S60, Windows Phone 8.0, Nokia S40(as of today), Android versions 2.3.7 and older and iPhone iOS 7 and older.
